Heroics
The Newsletter of the Eastern Pennsylvania Gaming Society
August 2010

My apologies for the late newsletter. I hope everyone had a great Labor Day Holiday!

Meeting attendance at the August meetings was, predictably, light. WBC and summer weather will have that effect! Things should pick up a bit in the coming months, unless of course there's a surprise winter blizzard in our near future...

Not much else to report that isn't already included below. Game on!

EPGS at WBC 2010
As I was not at this year's WBC, I am unable to write up an official report. Instead, I can offer links to three "Geeklists" on the Board Game Geek website: Mike Kaltman describes his quest for his very first WBC title. Did he succeed? Click the link above to find out. While you're at it, check out Alex Bove's recap and find out just how many more championships he won. Finally, Jim Vroom writes about his 20th consecutive WBC attended and some of the new games he played in open gaming.

If anyone else has anything written about their WBC adventures online, please let me know and I'll add a link to it in an upcoming newsletter.

The Games We Played - August 2010
Axis & Allies My personal thanks to Harold Dewhirst and Steve Corby for providing lists of games played. As it turns out, the classic war game Axis & Allies won most played honors with four games played. With the release of Europe 1940, this game may hold top honors again in the near future; at the September 4th meeting there were two tables with games going all day! Second place was a tie between Race for the Galaxy and Element which were each played three times.
