I want to thank everyone who was at the last meeting for listening to me discuss our upcoming elections - it ran a bit longer than my normal announcements.

We are going to hold elections on the 3rd Saturday of December: 12/15/07. Voting will be by written ballot, which will be pre-printed with all candidates who are nominated & confirmed as of midnight November 30th, 2007.

Anyone wishing to run can nominate themselves for any of the offices. Additionally, you may nominate someone for an office, but they have the right to decline the nomination.

We raised the issue of having a special officer appointed to run the election, but ultimately it was decided that the outgoing president will handle the duty.

To vote one must merely be a current member in good standing, having paid their dues. Anyone joining at a December meeting and opting to pay for 2008 in advance that gets credit for 2007 will be allowed to vote.

Officers cannot hold multiple offices, but current officers can run for a different office than they currently hold.

Currently the following people have accepted nominations for the various offices:

President: None (but there are some considering self-nomination, or accepting the nomination of others)

Treasurer: Randall MacInnis (incumbent)

Publicity: Keith Layton (incumbent)

Webmaster: Steve Fitchett (incumbent)

Newsletter: Frank Cunliffe (incumbent), Chris Moffa

I want to personally thank everyone who is currently serving the club, and has previously served the club in official and unofficial capacities both in our current organizational structure with 4 officers, and in the prior, less structured era, where we had a treasurer, a newsletter editor, and sometimes some other officers. We would not still be getting together & having fun without all the hard work that others have put in.

For those of you who have asked why I'm stepping down: it's simply once again time for a change.  It is good for us to get some fresh blood in leadership, and it's good for me to not have the extra responsibility as I try and make some further significant changes in my life – if my math is right, I've run EPGS for over half of it's existence and over a quarter of my life. You will see me around.
