Admin: Files

General

Upload dialog will default to file name being uploaded, and offers the option to rename the file. File names may only contain letters, numbers, periods, dashes and underscores. From the listing the eye icon shows a preview of the file. The trashcan will move it to the trash. Clicking the filename will open the file in a new tab.

Images

The images page shows an Embed Code, to use the image on a Post or Page, it is necessary to paste this into the content.

Newsletter

The upload for newsletters requires a Month and Year. New uploads will be automatically added to the Newsletter page. The newsletter page is only regenerated on the development server when it restarts, new newsletters may not show immediately. The File Management page displays in Alphabetical order, the Newsletter page displays in the order newsletters were added, if they are out of order a manual update is required.

PDF Files

Optimization of PDF saves disk space and bandwidth, and more importantly, smaller files download faster.

PDFs should be created with a target of Ebook, or the available setting between screen and print quality. There are free online PDF optimization utilities available, these include Acobe’s Free Compression Tool, PDFResizer, Smallpdf. Always try a newsletter issue on one of these tools before uploading.

Games Played

Uploaded from the Meetings page in Admin. Past meetings will show a control to upload the games played. The file format is CSV with header row, strings must be quoted, the file must be UTF8 with Line Feed line endings (unix style). game_unpublished is a boolean it is recommended to use 1 as the true value, with blank and 0 being false. The only required field is game_title. When missing times_played defaults to 1, game_unpublished defaults to false, and game_link to bgg search.

Deleted Files

The interface does not provide a way to recover files from the trash, but it can be done manually. If you delete a file with the same name as one in the trash, the older file will be gone, although it might still be recoverable from a backup.
